Offshore oil rigs salaries are higher than what you would earn ashore with your qualification and experience. It is very rewarding. An entry level oil rig jobs can earn US $50,000 – US $80,000 per annum and this only involves working 6 months out of the year. Other technical and professional positions can make US $70,000 – US $220,000 per annum. Most oil rigs companies provides major medical insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, profit sharing and 401 K programs.

You require all the certificates and testimonials to back your claim of qualification and experience. Also certificates that you have completed courses are required. They depend upon your position on rig.
You must be over the age of 18 to work on an oil or gas rig. To work offshore, you must pass an offshore survival and firefighting course, also known as emergency response training, or basic offshore induction and emergency training (BOSIET). Following are required before you join offshore platform. |

- Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET). The BOSIET includes Safety, Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, First Aid, Helicopter Safety & Escape and Survival at Sea. Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET) is the refresher certificate.
- The BOSIET is not sufficient for working in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The Norwegian Oil Industry Association (OLF) course is a lot more demanding than that required in the UK.
