DNS Leading to B.Sc (Nautical Science)
Educational Qualifications Pass in 10+2 examination from a recognized Board with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) with not less than 60% marks. Students who have appeared for 10+2 examination and waiting for results are also eligible to apply & qualify for examination subject to fulfill the percentage criteria prior the commencement of course. ORB.Sc (PCM) / B.Sc (Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years) with an average of not less than 55% of the marks in final year from a recognized University. ORB.E/B.Tech from college recognized by AICTE with marks not less than 50% of the marks in final year. Age Limit As prescribed by IMU, the age of candidate should be minimum 17 years and maximum 25 years on the date of admission as announced by IMU, Medical Standards Candidate must have good health and be fit for sea service as per existing MS Medical Rules 2000/MLC 2006 applicable to seafarers. Selected candidates are required to undergo medical examination including fitness, Eyesight and other medical test including psychometric test as required by Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) & IMU. Medical fitness check will be done only through Directorate General of Shipping`s (DGS) approved Doctors. Onboard Training 10 (4 + 6) months on-boarding training provided by SCILAL-Maritime Training Institute(Shipboard Training on SCI Vessel) Fees Male - Rs 7,00,000 Female - Rs 6,10,000 Job Prospects After completion of 12 months pre-sea training ashore at MTI and 18 months structured shipboard training with SSTP & TRB, candidate will be eligible for Second Mate (FG) examination. After clearing of Examination and Orals conducted by D.G. Shipping, Government of India, candidates will be issued “Certificate of Competency (COC)” of Second Mate (FG) and will serve as Navigating Officer. |

Graduate Marine Engineering
Educational Qualification As per DGS guidelines, the following categories are eligible to undertake the admission for Pre sea Training of 8 months shore training by SCILAL-MTI. Category (a) – A full time BE / B. Tech in Engineering streams e.g. Mechanical and Automation, Mechanical and Electronics, Mechanical and Automobiles etc. However, the word “ Mechanical “should be first indicating that mechanical engineering is the core and the second subject is the elective with minimum 50% marks in final year of Engineering Degree. Category (b) – All Naval Architecture streams e.g. Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture and Ship building etc. However, the word “Naval Architecture” should be first indicating that Naval Architecture is the core and the second subject is the elective with minimum 50% marks in final year of Engineering Degree. Category (c) – BE /B. Tech in Marine Engineering with minimum 50% marks in final year of Engineering Degree Category (d) – BE/B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 50% marks in final year of Engineering Degree Other Higher degree such as 5 year integrated ME/M tech in above all categories with minimum 50% marks in final year of Engineering Degree. Age Limit Not more than 28 Years of age as on date of interview. Medical Standards Candidate must have good health and be fit for sea service as per existing MS Medical Rules 2000/MLC 2006 applicable to seafarers. Selected candidates are required to undergo medical examination including fitness, Eyesight and other medical test including psychometric test as required by Directorate General of Shipping (DGS). Medical fitness check will be done only through Directorate General of Shipping`s (DGS) approved Doctors Onboard Training 12 months Pre-Sea residential training course to be conducted at Maritime Training Institute, Powai, Mumbai followed by 18 months of structured shipboard training as TNOC (Deck Cadet) under Indian Maritime University (IMU) – Directorate General of Shipping (D G Shipping) project, leading to Degree in B. Sc. (Nautical Science). Fees Male -Rs 5,75,000 Female -Rs 4,50,000 Job Prospects After completion of 08 months shore training as GME and total 10 (4+6) months structured shipboard training as GME, candidates can appear for Marine Engineer Officer (MEO) CLASS-IV. Examination for issuance of Certificate of Competency (COC) by Directorate General Of Shipping (DGS). After obtaining necessary sea experience and higher certificates of competency the candidate can rise to the rank of Chief Engineer officer on the ship. |

Electro Technical Officer
Educational Qualifications Candidates should have the following educational/academic qualifications and minimum eligible criteria as follows: (a) Passed Four Year’s B.E./B. Tech Degree including lateral entry, with 50% marks in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication/Communication Engineering, or Electronics and Instrumentation or equivalent. or (b) The Candidates who were admitted in Three Years Diploma course on the basis of Matriculation only and went to complete their B.E. / B. Tech degree course as a lateral entry in the 2nd year of the degree on the basis of Diploma, and has secured with 50% marks in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication/Communication Engineering or Electronics and Instrumentation or equivalent. or (c) Passed three years’ Diploma with 60% marks in Electrical Engineering Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, or Electronics and Instrumentation or equivalent. Age Limit The maximum age limit for candidates shall be 30 years as on last date of submission of Application. Medical Standards Candidate must have good health and be fit for sea service as per existing MS Medical Rules 2000/MLC 2006 applicable to seafarers. Selected candidates are required to undergo medical examination including fitness, Eyesight and other medical test including psychometric test as required by Directorate General of Shipping (DGS). Medical fitness check will be done only through Directorate General of Shipping`s (DGS) approved Doctors. Onboard Training 08 months on-boarding training provided by SCILAL-Maritime Training Institute (Shipboard Training on SCI Vessel) Fees Male-Rs4,50,000 Female-Rs3,80,000 Job Prospects After completion of 04 months pre-sea training ashore at MTI and 08 months structured shipboard training as trainee ETO, candidates can appear for an examination conducted by D.G. Shipping, Government of India for issuance of “Certificate of Competency (COC)” for the rank of Electro Technical Officer. The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. GP Rating Leading to 2nd Mate (NCV)
Educational Qualifications 10th standard pass from Government recognized board with Subjects, English, Mathematics & Science with 40% aggregate and English 50% in 10th/12th OR 12th Standard (any stream) pass from Government recognized board with 40%aggregate. English 50% at 10th/12thbut with subjects English, Mathematics & Science at 10th OR Pass 02 years ITI Course (Fitter/Machinist/Mechanic/Welder/Turner) approved by DVET; with minimum 40% aggregate marks in final year of ITI & minimum 50% in English in 10th/12th. Age Limit As prescribed by DG Shipping, the age of candidate should be minimum 18 years and maximum 25 years on the date of admission Medical Standards Candidate must have good health and be fit for sea service as per existing MS Medical Rules 2000/MLC 2006 applicable to seafarers. Medical fitness check will be done only through Directorate General of Shipping`s (DGS) approved Doctors. No waiver will be given for the above standard. Onboard Training 18 months structured shipboard training Fees Male-Rs 4,50,000 Female-Rs 3,60,000 Job Prospects After completion of 06 months pre sea training ashore and 18 months structured shipboard training with SSTP & TRB, candidate will be eligible for Second Mate (Near Coastal Vessel) examination. After clearing of Examination and Orals conducted by D.G. Shipping, Government of India, candidates will be issued “Certificate of Competency (COC)” of Second Mate (Near Coastal Vessel). |
