Maersk Tankers operates 164 product tanker vessels across five segments: Intermediate, Handy, MR, LR2 and Aframax. Of these, 80 are owned by Maersk Product Tankers, 22 are chartered and 62 are under commercial management.
Maersk Tankers has an ongoing fleet renewal programme in the MR and LR2 segments for a total of 25 new vessels to sustain a competitive fleet and strong market position.
Maersk Tankers fleet renewal programme in the MR segment comprises 19 vessels in total. Until end-2018, the fleet has been expanded with ten newbuildings from Sungdong Shipyard in Korea as well as four newbuildings from Samsung Heavy Industries in Ningbo, China. The remaining MR vessels will join the fleet in 2019 and 2020.
In 2018, Maersk Product Tankers’ board of directors approved the order of six out of ten LR2 newbuildings with the first vessel expected to enter the fleet in 2020. The six vessels will be constructed at Dalian Shipyard in China.
